Redmi 12 5G with 6.79-inch full-HD+ display, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, 5000mAh battery launched in India

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 12 5G smartphone in India. The phone features a 6.79-inch full-HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, a 50-megapixel primary camera, and a 5000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. Redmi 12 5G runs on the Android 13 operating system out of the box with MIUI 14 customization on top. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.

The Redmi 12 5G features a 6.79-inch full-HD+(2460 x 1080 pixels) display with up to 90Hz adaptive refresh rate, 550 nits of peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the phone has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (4nm) chipset paired with Adreno 613 GPU, up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 onboard storage. It also supports a microSD card of up to 1TB for expandable storage.

In terms of optics, the Redmi 12 5G sports a dual-rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera on the hole-punch display. The phone packs a non-removable 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, proximity, magnetometer, ambient light, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 168.6mm ×76.28mm × 8.17mm and weighs 199 grams.

The Redmi 12 5G is priced at Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, Rs. 13,499 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model, and Rs. 15,499 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. The phone comes in Moonstone Sliver, Pastel Blue, and Jade Black color options. It will be available to purchase via the Amazon website, mi.com, and Xiaomi retail stores in India starting August 4, 2023.
