Paytm launches Pocket Soundbox and Music Soundbox to empower small shops and merchants in India

Paytm Music Soundbox allows merchants to manage their payment transactions and also lets them play music through their mobile devices via Bluetooth.

One97 Communications Limited, the company behind Paytm, has launched two new 4G-enabled payment devices, including Paytm Pocket Soundbox and Paytm Music Soundbox. The Paytm Pocket Soundbox is a small portable device that can easily fit inside the pocket and allows merchants who are on the move to receive instant audio payment alerts. In contrast, the Paytm Music Soundbox can issue payments notification but also acts as a portable Bluetooth speaker that can be connected to the phone to play music.

“As pioneers of mobile payments and QR technology, we revolutionized in-store payments with the Paytm Soundbox. We are driving innovation further with two new devices Paytm Pocket Soundbox and Paytm Music Soundbox, both of which have been designed to bring convenience to merchants,” said Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder & CEO of Paytm in a blog post.

“Paytm Pocket Soundbox will be a game-changer for merchants on the go, while the Paytm Music Soundbox announces payment alerts, and also solves for a lifestyle experience. With these new devices, we continue to lead technology for small shops of India,” he added.

Paytm Pocket Soundbox details

The Paytm Pocket Soundbox is designed for merchants who are always on the go, such as cab and auto drivers, delivery agents, cart vendors, electricians, and parking fee collectors. According to Paytm, the device is Made in India and is an industry-first portable device that includes all the powerful features of the iconic Paytm Soundbox. Paytm Pocket Soundbox offers 4G connectivity and up to five days of battery life. It also has a built-in torch for low-light conditions.

Paytm Music Soundbox details

The Paytm Music Soundbox allows merchants to manage their payment transactions and also lets them play music through their mobile devices via Bluetooth. The device supports 4G connectivity and comes with 7 days of battery life. Further, the device is equipped with a 4W speaker and can deliver up to 7 hours of non-stop music playback on a single charge. It also includes a unique voice overlay that allows merchants to hear payment notifications while the music is playing.

With the launch of Paytm Pocket Soundbox and Paytm Music Soundbox, the company aims to empower small shops and mobile merchants in India. As of June 30, 2023, over 79 lakh merchants are paying subscriptions for Paytm payment devices, including Soundbox and Paytm Card Machines.

1. Open the Paytm App

2. And Tap on the Electricity Icon on the homepage

3. On the top, Select ‘Apartments’

4. Select the city where your Apartment is situated

5. Select Apartment Name.

6. Enter your Apartment Number.
Then, tap on Proceed to see the Consumer Details such as consumer name,address, meter number, etc.

7. Enter the Amount by which you want to recharge your prepaid electricity meter in the apartment.

8. By selecting the Fast Forward option here, You can proceed directly to payment page, otherwise you will be moved to deals page.

9. Tap on Proceed

10. Select the deal of your choice and apply the relevant promo code if any.

11. Tap on Proceed to Pay

12. Select your preferred Payment Mode here. You can either pay with your Paytm Wallet or use a Debit Card/Credit Card or Net Banking. You have the flexibility to deselect the Paytm wallet option if you do not wish to use the wallet balance. As of now we will use Paytm Wallet to make the payment.
Click on ‘Pay Now’ to confirm your payment.

13. On successful payment you will see success on the order summary page.
Here, you can also see details like order number, payment status etc. A confirmation of payment will be sent to your registered mobile number & email id too.

Leading digital payments firm Paytm plans to launch a messaging service to rival Facebook Inc’s WhatsApp by the end of August, a source familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
