Increase in GST; Apple, Xiaomi, Samsung receives a price hike

In March 2020, the Finance Minister announced the new GST rates for mobile devices. GST rates on mobile devices have increased from 12% to 18% with effect from April 1, 2020. Smartphone manufacturers, including Xiaomi, Samsung, Apple, Realme, and Oppo, have updated the price.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra was introduced at Rs. 92,999 but after the hike in the GST rate, the device costs Rs. 97,900. Samsung Galaxy S20 and S20+ will now cost Rs. 70,500 and Rs. 77,900 respectively. Samsung Galaxy Z-flip was launched at Rs. Rs. 1,09,990, now costs Rs. 1,15,890.

The iPhone 11 Pro price has increased from Rs. 1,01,200 to Rs. 1,06,600. The price of the iPhone 11 and iPhone XR has also increased from Rs. 64,900 to Rs. 68,300, and Rs. 49,900 to Rs. 52,500, respectively.

The Redmi K20 Pro was priced at Rs. 24,999, now cost Rs. 26,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant, and the 8GB/256GB variant now cost Rs. 29,999. The price of Redmi K20 has also been increased from Rs. 19,999 to Rs. 29,999 for the 6GB/64GB variant and the 6GB/128GB variant increased from Rs. 22,999 to Rs. 24,999. The Redmi Note 9 Pro, 4GB/64GB variant was available for Rs. 12,999 now cost Rs. 13,999. The 6GB/128GB variant got Rs. 4,000 price hikes, now costs Rs. 16,999.

The Realme 6 and 6 Pro also got Rs. 1000 price hike and the starting price are now Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 17,999. Similarly, Realme 5i and X2 now cost Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 17,999, respectively. The Realme X2 Pro, 6GB, 8GB, 12GB, are now available at Rs 29,999, Rs 31,999, and Rs 35,999.

The Oppo A1K got Rs. 500 hike, and is available for Rs. 7,990. The Oppo A5s 2GB variant is available for Rs. 8,990, the 3GB variant is available for Rs. 9,990, and the 4GB variant cost Rs. 11,990. The Oppo A9 2020 4GB and 8GB variant cost Rs. 15,990 and Rs. 18,990. The Oppo Reno 2F and 2Z are now available for Rs. 23,490 and Rs. 27,490, respectively. The Oppo Reno 2 and Reno 3 Pro is available at Rs. 38,990 and Rs. 29,990. Earlier, the Oppo Reno 2 was available for Rs. 36,990, and Oppo Reno 3 for Rs. 31,990.

The Poco X2 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB was earlier available for Rs. 15,999, Rs. 16,999, and Rs. 19,999, but now costs Rs. 16,999, Rs. 17,999, and Rs. 29,999.

The new rates are applicable to all online and offline markets in India.
