BSNL launches new prepaid international roaming facility

State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new prepaid international roaming facility in the network of M/s Wind Hellas, Greece, for the subscribers of the Chennai circle.

Tariff details:

Mobile originated local and national calls cost Rs. 5.52 per minute. Mobile originated calls to India cost Rs. 11.03 per minute. Mobile terminated call charges are Rs. 9.80 per minute. GPRS data usage costs Rs. 0.01 per 10 KB and mobile originating SMS cost Rs. 2.21 per SMS.

Mobile originated calls to other countries are divided into ten zones. Zone wise list of the countries is provided in a pdf file by BSNL. Zone 1 countries cost Rs. 71.73 per minute. Zone 2 and Zone 3 countries cost Rs. 132.42 per minute. Zone 4, Zone 5, and Zone 6 countries cost Rs. 48.97, Rs. 165.52, and Rs. 198.63 per minute. Zone 7 and Zone 8 countries cost Rs. 275.87 per minute. Zone 9 and Zone 10 countries cost Rs. 662.09 per minute and Rs. 882.79 per minute.

The tariff has been calculated as per the currency rate on December 23, 2019, and with effect from January 1, 2020, to March 31, 2020. To avail of this Service, the prepaid customers need to replace their existing SIM with the New International Roaming SIM (Dual IMSI Seamless SIM) at CSC.

The international roaming facility will be available to the prepaid Customers only after the activation of the STV IR57. This applies to the existing international Prepaid travelers also.

State-run BSNL has recently withdrawn Combo Special Tariff Voucher (STV) 125 plan from Chennai, including the Tamil Nadu circle. The plan was available for BSNL prepaid subscribers.
