BSNL launches International Prepaid Roaming services in 5 countries for Chennai Telephones customers

State-owned telecom service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) last week initiated international prepaid roaming services in 5 countries for the customers of Chennai Telephones. BSNL Chennai has announced the launch of a prepaid international roaming facility in Iceland, France, Afghanistan, Thailand, and Sweden.

The company has tied up with the networks of Bouyges, Vodafone, MTN, Trinet, and HI3G for France, Iceland, Afghanistan, Thailand, and Sweden respectively. The prepaid IR facility has been launched effective 16th January 2021.

The tariff mentioned by BSNL is meant for basic voice calls and data calls while the tariff calculation has been done as per exchange rate of 23rd December 2020 with effect from 1st January 2021 to 31st March 2021.

BSNL Chennai customers for availing this service are required to replace their existing prepaid SIM and collect new International Roaming SIM at CSC. The international roaming facility will only be available after the activation of the STV IR57.

In other news, BSNL has started offering truly unlimited calling without FUP conditions from 10th January 2021 on all unlimited plans post the scrapping of the IUC regime by TRAI earlier this year.
