Telecom service provider Vodafone Idea on Wednesday discontinued the Double Data offer on its 1.5 GB high-speed data per day unlimited prepaid plans revising the Double Data offer and limiting to its 2 GB high-speed data per day unlimited prepaid plans. The change went live earlier today sometime between 12 AM – 4 AM.
According to the listings on the Vodafone India website, the Double Data offer is now restricted to just 2 GB high-speed per data unlimited plans. To recall, Vodafone Idea on 6th May brought back the Double Data offer in all telecom circles with restricted availability. While the Double Data offer on Rs 299, Rs 449 and Rs 699 prepaid plans were valid across the country, the offer on Rs 399 and Rs 599 prepaid plans was restricted to select states i.e Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Kolkata, Mumbai, Odisha, Rajasthan, UP East, and West Bengal.
It all started on March 1 when Vodafone Idea launched the Double Data offer on its Rs 249, Rs 399, and Rs 599 prepaid plans. This was followed by the Double Data offer getting discontinued in 8 telecom circles in mid April. Subsequently, Vodafone Idea restricted it to just 9 telecom circles with the discontinuation of the Double Data offer on the Rs 249 prepaid plan.
Vodafone Idea followed it up with the introduction of the Double Data offer on Rs 299, Rs 449, and Rs 699 prepaid plans, however, it was restricted in the 9 telecom circles only. Subsequently, Vodafone Idea reintroduced the offer on a pan India basis with restricted availability of certain offers. This again has been followed up with today’s move to remove the offer on 1.5 GB/day unlimited prepaid plans. With 3 months set to pass since its launch and the lockdown almost in the last phase, it remains to be seen if Vodafone Idea will continue the Double Data offer or not.
