Xiaomi has launched the Poco M5 smartphone in India. The phone features a 6.58-inch full-HD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, 5000mAh battery, triple rear camera setup, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. Poco M5 runs the Android 12 operating system out of the box with MIUI 13 customization.

Poco M5 features a 6.58-inch full-HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) IPS display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 500 nits of peak brightness. The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 6nm (2 x 2.2 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6 x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A55) chipset paired Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 128GB of UFS 2.2 onboard storage. The phone also supports a microSD card (up to 512GB) for expandable storage via a dedicated slot.
Poco M5 includes a triple rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging technology.
Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth version 5.3, 4G VoLTE, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack with Hi-res audio support, Infrared (IR) blaster, and a USB Type-C 2.0 port for charging and OTG. Sensors include an accelerometer, proximity, magnetometer, ambient light, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 163.99 × 76.09 × 8.9 mm and weighs 201 grams.
Pricing and availability
The Poco M5 is priced at Rs. 12,499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant costs Rs. 14,499. The phone comes in Power Blue, Poco Yellow, and Icy Blue color options and will be available to purchase in the country starting September 13 via Flipkart.
Customers purchasing the phone using ICICI and Axis Bank cards will receive a discount of Rs. 1,500. The company is also offering free 1-year Disney+ Hotstar subscription and six months of free screen protection.
