We love Lookout Mobile Security because not only is it a great service with many features, but they also constantly add new features, and today is no exception. Lookout Mobile Security has a new look and some cool new features such as Signal Flare, an Activity Feed, and Safe Dialer. If you ever lose your phone, there’s a good chance your battery will deplete. The good news is that Signal Flare will automatically flag the last location of youe phone if it has a low battery, which will increase your chances of finding it. No other service offers this. The Activity Feed is a dashboard that categorizes updates, which allows you to quickly get notifications of threats, see your app download history, your data backups, and other security notifications. Last but not least, the Safe Dialer insures that any number you click to call from your mobile browser is safe. This is as a result of the recent USSD security threat found on Samsung devices.

Full press release after the break:

The New Lookout Mobile Security App Does Even More to Protect your Phone

Signal Flare helps find lost phones even when batteries die
San Francisco, CA — October 9, 2012 — Lookout Inc., the mobile security leader, today announced the availability of the redesignedLookout Mobile Security for Android. The new Lookout Mobile Security has a sleek design and smart additions, including an intelligent dashboard of mobile activity and protection, a way to locate a missing device with a dying battery, and protection against click-to-call threats, an emerging new mobile threat category. With more than 25 million users worldwide, Lookout protects mobile phones from threats like malware and spyware; backs up personal data and can find a lost or stolen phone.
“The mobile landscape has changed dramatically since we launched in 2007. Everything has evolved, from what we do on our phones to the threats that face them,” said Kevin Mahaffey, co-founder and CTO of Lookout.
“With the redesign of Lookout Mobile Security, we wanted to solve the problems facing people on mobile today and also stay ahead of the threats of tomorrow. We want people to feel empowered to do whatever on their mobile devices whenever – so as new services and capabilities come out, people can feel safe.”

What’s New with Lookout Mobile Security:

Lookout’s New Look. The Lookout app takes advantage of the latest Android OS design conventions, making phone protection a seamless, consistent experience. The design is now more intuitive making it simple to access the features you want, stay informed and take action if there is a threat to your phone. Lightweight and mobile-optimized, the app keeps speed and battery life at the forefront.

Protection at a Glance. The more you rely on your phone, the more you want to know what is happening on your device. To keep you informed, the app now has Activity Feed: a dashboard that displays of all the ways Lookout is protecting you. It intelligently categorizes updates, so with a quick glance, you can be notified of threats, app download history, data backups and security notifications.

Lost Phone + Dead Battery = No Problem. Lookout locates thousands of phones everyday, but when a phone can’t be found, a dead battery is often the culprit. In fact, nearly 30 percent of people who reported they could not recover a lost or stolen phone said a dying battery was to blame[1]. To solve this problem, Lookout created Signal Flare, a first-ever capability that automatically flags the last location of a phone if it has a low battery. If you lose your phone after a battery has died, Signal Flare improves your chances of getting it back.

Click-to-Call with Confidence. Lookout added Safe Dialer protection against dialer-based attacks, a new category of mobile threat. It scans every phone number you click to call from your mobile browser, alerting you if dialing the number might have unintended consequences, including wiping your phone without your permission.
Lookout Mobile Security for Android is available in Free and Premium versions. For more information, please visit the Lookout blog or you can download the app.

Gameloft Releases Zombiewood Trailer, Gives Gamers Another Chance To Channel Their Inner Zombie Hunter

zombiewood.jpg

Another action thriller is about to make its way to Android gamers’ hearts. Gameloft has released a trailer for its upcoming Zombiewood game. Unlike other action games, Zombiewood takes place with players taking control of a stuntman who you guessed it— specializes in kicking some serious zombie keister. You’ll have a full arsenal of weapons available at your disposal and you’ll use that to kill anything and everything that tries to eat you. As you can see in the trailer below, the game features some awesome graphics and what appears to be almost non-stop action. Considering there’s a ton of zombies that seemingly is relentless with trying to destroy you, this should make for what could potentially be limitless gameplay.
The trailer also indicates the game will arrive by Halloween, so it’s only going to be a few weeks’ time from now. We know most of you zombie haters are itching to get a tease of the action, so be sure to get your fix and check out the trailer once you hit past the break.

Angry Birds Star Wars teaser is out, launch date confirmed

Angry Birds Star Wars teaser is out, launch date confirmed

Rovio's latest hit video game, Bad Piggies, might not have much to do with Angry Birds when it comes to gameplay, but that doesn't mean that the company is all done with the latter franchise. In fact, a follow up is to be released really soon – Angry Birds Star Wars, and the first video teaser has already been unveiled online.

As you will see in the video below, original footage from Star Wars: Episode IV has been used in the trailer. And that is a big deal: Lucasfilm rarely allows content that it owns to be used in such ways. A total of 8 trailers are to be revealed prior to the launch of Angry Birds Star Wars, and a 3-minute animated video featuring the characters in the game will be among them.

And as far as the game's launch date is concerned, Angry Birds Star Wars will be launched on November 8, although we aren't really sure whether the release date will coincide for all the different platform versions. The game will be available on iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Mac, PC, Windows 8, and on the Amazon Kindle Fire. Toys and merchandise, however, will arrive at Toys 'R' Us a bit earlier – on October 28.

Upcoming Gmail For Android 4.2 Will Finally Have Pinch-To-Zoom, Swipeaway Delete/Archive [Video]

Today, we are thrilled to share some exciting news about the next version of Gmail for Android. We may or may not be in possession of an unreleased version of Gmail, which may or may not have come from an LG Nexus system dump. One thing I am sure of is we definitely have video of it, which is just one short paragraph away.
Let's get right to the good stuff. FINALLY, Gmail is going to have pinch zoom. It's easily the most wanted Gmail feature, with over 1600 stars on the Android bug tracker. You can see that and the new swipe to archive/delete feature in this video:

You may commence freaking out now. This video, by the way, was taken on my Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.1, so it's not just for Android 4.2.

If you want more details, we've got them. The about screen says it's Gmail version 4.2. Besides pinch zoom, the other major new feature is "swipe to archive/delete," which, just like a notification, will let you swipe away messages from your inbox.

Gmail for Android v4.2 to bring pinch-to-zoom and Swipe to delete features

Gmail-for-Android-4.2-leak.jpg

Android Police has got hold of the upcoming Gmail for Android app version 4.2. Looks like this would be a major update from the existing version of the Gmail for Android version 4.1.2. The upcoming Gmail for Android update is expected to bring the most expected pinch-to-zoom feature and a new swipe to archive or delete feature to quickly delete or archive a mail from you inbox or sent. You can also disable this feature from the settings, or make it to only delete when you swipe or archive and delete. It also removes the labels when you’re in a label-only view.

They say that the apk is not from one of the leaked LG Nexus devices. Android Police managed to install it on a Galaxy Nexus running on Android 4.1, so it is clear that it doesn’t require Android 4.2. They didn’t share a APK of the Gmail app yet, but according to them the APK might only work on a rooted device running on Android 4.0 and later.

Check out their video below that shows off these new features.

Bringing Google Calendar to the Play Store

Previously available only on select Android devices like Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus, you can now download the official Google Calendar app for Android from Google Play. Google Calendar makes it easy for you to manage all your calendars in one place, including those from your Google accounts and other calendars synced to your Android device.

Beyond supporting the basics such as creating, editing, deleting events and responding to invitations, the new Google Calendar app has extra features that help you manage your time and communication more easily:
Snooze events directly from a notification if you’re not quite ready and want to be reminded later.
Use predefined messages to send quick "I'll be late" updates to your event participants directly from the notifications or the event itself (of course, you can always write your own).
Pinch to zoom in and out of a day.
Set a home time zone to help you manage your time better when traveling.
In addition, we also expanded the sync period so you can review past events from up to one year ago directly on your device. Download Google Calendar on Google Play today for devices running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.3+) or Jellybean. Use the Google Feedback feature in the app to let us know how we can make Calendar work better for you!
