Instant messaging app WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow users to search messages in a conversation by date. This feature is currently available for some beta testers using WhatsApp beta version 220.127.116.11 on iOS devices. Additionally, the company is rolling out a new Beta update for Android users that displays a banner about a version of WhatsApp that is compatible with Android tablets.
Search messages by date feature
WhatsApp is working on adding new functionality that will allow users to search messages by date. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently available in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 18.104.22.168 update on the TestFlight app for select beta users. If the calendar icon is present while using the search feature in a conversation, then the feature is enabled for the beta tester.
Users can use this feature to find messages from a specific date or view their first message in a conversation easily. The search for messages by date feature is expected to roll out to more users soon.
Android companion device
It is already possible to link an existing WhatsApp account on an iOS device with an Android device. However, Android devices were not recognized from the linked devices section on iOS. As per WABetaInfo, the company has released WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.214.171.124 update for beta testers with the updated list of possible associated devices that makes Android devices recognizable within the linked devices section on iOS.
WhatsApp is rolling out a new Beta update for Android users that displays a banner about a version of WhatsApp which is compatible with Android tablets. As reported by WABetaInfo, the banner appears when a user opens WhatsApp and informs them about a compatible version of WhatsApp Beta available to download via Play Store. Users can also view additional information by tapping the learn more link in the banner that shows the presentation sheet.
