Tecno has launched the affordable Tecno Pop 8 smartphone in India. The phone features a 6.6-inch HD+ display, octa-core Unisoc T606 SoC, DTS Dual Stereo speakers, 4GB of RAM, and a 5000mAh battery. It also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone runs on Android 13 Go Edition based HiOS 13 out of the box. Furthermore, Tecno Pop 8 includes a Dynamic Port feature, similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, that displays pill-shaped notifications around the front camera.

The Tecno Pop 8 features a 6.6-inch HD+ (1612 x 720 pixels) display with a 20:9 screen aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by an octa-core Unisoc T606 (12nm) chipset paired with Mali-G57 MC2 650MHz GPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of onboard storage. It also supports a microSD card via a dedicated slot for expandable storage.
In terms of optics, the Tecno Pop 8 sports a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and an auxiliary lens. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor housed in a hole-punch display. The phone packs a non-removable 5000mAh battery that supports 10W fast charging technology.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, dual 4G VoLTE, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port for charging. Sensors include an accelerometer and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 163.69mm × 75.6mm × 8.55mm.
Pricing and availability
The Tecno Pop 8 is priced at Rs. 6,499 for the sole 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. However, the phone will be available at Rs. 5,999 with bank offers. It comes in Gravity Black and Mystery White color options and will be sold via Amazon India website starting January 9, 2024.
