South Korean tech giant Samsung has unveiled its next-gen flagship smartphones – the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy S22+, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra, at the Galaxy Unpacked online event. Galaxy S22 series come with Android 12 OS with One UI 4.1 customization on top. Samsung also promises to deliver four major Android updates and five years of security updates. Galaxy S22 Ultra is the first smartphone in the S-series lineup to feature a built-in S Pen with 70% lower latency compared to S21 Ultra. All models come with IP68 certification for dust and water resistance.

Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ specifications

Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+, 240Hz touch sampling rate in game mode, and up to 1300 nits brightness. In contrast, the Galaxy S22+ includes a 6.6-inch Full-HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and up to 1750 nits peak brightness. Both the front and the back glass come with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection.

In the US, China, and India, the phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (4 nm) chipset paired with Adreno 730 GPU, while the international variant comes with an octa-core Exynos 2200 (4 nm) SoC paired with Xclipse 920 GPU. The device is equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In terms of optics, the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ come with a triple rear camera setup of 50-megapixel Dual Pixel PDAF primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.4 aperture. For selfies, the phone has a 10-megapixel sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (6E in S22+), Bluetooth version 5.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, Ultra-Wideband support (S22+ only), and a USB Type-C 3.2 port. Sensors include accelerometer, ambient light, proximity, magnetometer, barometer, gyroscope, hall, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 comes with a 3700mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging technology, while the Galaxy S22+ is equipped with a 4500mAh battery with support for 45W fast charging. Both models support 15W Qi wireless charging, 4.5W reverse wireless charging, and USB Power Delivery 3.0 technology.

The Galaxy S22 measures 46 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm and weighs 168 grams, while the Galaxy S22+ measures 157.4 x 75.8 x 7.6 mm and weighs 196 grams.

For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone comes with a 40-megapixel front sensor with an f/2.2 aperture lens.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth version 5.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, 5G SA/NSA, 4G VoLTE, Ultra-Wideband support, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port. Sensors include accelerometer, ambient light, proximity, magnetometer, barometer, gyroscope, hall, and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone comes with a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging, 15W Qi wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging technology.

Lastly, the phone measures 163.3 x 77.9 x 8.9mm and weighs 229 grams.

Pricing and availability

Samsung Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ come in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Pink Gold colors. The smartphones also feature online exclusive colors in select markets including, Cream, Graphite, Sky Blue, and Violet.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra comes in Phantom Black, Phantom White, Green, and Burgundy colors. Online exclusive colors include Red, Sky Blue, and Graphite.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 price starts at USD 799 (around Rs. 59,900), while the Galaxy S22+ price starts at USD 999 (around Rs. 74,800). The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra price starts at USD 1,199 (around Rs. 89,700). Samsung is yet to announce the pricing details of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra in India. The smartphones will be available from February 25 for purchase.

Processor could be SD 885/Exynos 2200

S2 with SD885??? SD888 in S21 series.. I think its SD895.

Display size is shrinking, glass is becoming plastic (S22+ also), charger already removed. What else will get removed this time, I wonder???
