RedMagic 9 Pro with 6.8-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC launched globally

RedMagic has launched the RedMagic 9 Pro smartphone for the global market. The phone features a 6.8-inch full-HD+ AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a 6500mAh battery, a 50-megapixel primary sensor, and an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. RedMagic 9 Pro runs on the Android 14 operating system out of the box with RedMagic OS 9.0 customization on top. Moreover, the phone has a new ICE 13.0 Magic Cooling System, which includes a 10182mm² cooling vapor chamber (VC) and 22,000 RPM high-speed turbofan. The company claims the cooling system can decrease the CPU’s core temperature by 25 degrees Celsius.

RedMagic 9 Pro specifications

The RedMagic 9 Pro features a 6.8-inch full-HD+ (2480 x 1116 pixels) AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, up to 960Hz touch sampling rate, DC dimming, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and up to 1600 nits of peak brightness. The front glass comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4nm) chipset paired with Adreno 750 GPU, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage.

In terms of optics, the RedMagic 9 Pro sports a triple rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 primary sensor, a 50-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide lens Samsung JN1 sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has a 16-megapixel under-display front-facing sensor. The phone packs a non-removable 6500mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging technology.

Connectivity options include tri-band Wi-Fi:11b/g/n/ac/ax/be, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, NFC, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB 3.2 Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, ambient light, magnetometer, and an in-display fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 163.98mm × 76.35mm × 8.9mm and weighs 229 grams.

Pricing and availability

The RedMagic 9 Pro is priced at USD 649/GBP 579/EUR 649 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model costs USD 799/GBP 709/EUR 799. The 12GB variant comes in a single Sleet color option, while the 16GB variants come in Snowfall and Cyclone color options. The smartphone will be available for pre-order from December 27, 2023, through the RedMagic website and will go on sale starting January 3, 2024.
