Nokia has launched the Nokia G42 5G smartphone in India. The phone features a 6.56-inch HD+ display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC, 50-megapixel primary sensor, 5000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. Nokia G42 5G runs on the Android 13 operating system out of the box, and the company says to deliver two major Android upgrades and three years of security updates.

The Nokia G42 5G features a 6.56-inch HD+ (720 x 1612 pixels) display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, 90Hz refresh rate, Gorilla Glass 3 protection, and up to 560 nits of peak brightness. The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ (8nm) chipset paired with Adreno 619 GPU, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage. It also supports a microSD card of up to 1TB for expandable storage but uses a shared SIM slot.

In terms of optics, the Nokia G42 5G sports a triple rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. The phone packs a non-removable 5000mAh battery with 20W fast (QC3.0 & PD3.0) charging support.

Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax-ready, Bluetooth 5.1, dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, proximity, magnetometer, ambient light, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 165.0mm x 75.8mm x 8.55mm and weighs 193.8 grams.

Pricing and availability

The Nokia G42 5G is priced at Rs. 12,599 for the sole 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The phone comes in So Grey, So Pink, and So Purple color options and will be available from the Amazon India website from September 15, 2023.
