you do not have to pay anything apart from the pro-rated final bill. oh, they may force that 99 jio prime thing if it is still there
In Jio, is it easy to convert to prepaid? Struggled a lot in Airtel before for prepaid conversion

Can you provide the steps to be followed in Jio app and also time taken to get converted?
Bro this option removed from my jio app new update.
You need to download old my jio app version 7.0.60 from Google, then go to menu option then profile and setting option. In this menu you will find switch to prepaid option.
You can easily migrate to prepaid by these steps.

@SATFAN bro, even if you can't use that app, just do not hesitate to go to nearby Jio Store and convert to Prepaid. It is totally worth it, imho. I have just done that today and it took hardly 15 to 20 mins max. You may need to pay the bill amount due (un-billed one up to today - pro-rata basis) and need to have aadhar in hand. They will take photo and few fingerprints. Finally you may need to pay (digitally - not cash) for the FRC (different for 4G and 5G). No need to change SIM, no SMS stoppage, no need to re-activate UPI apps like SIM change. This even works for eSIM as well. I am using Jio as eSIM number in my Samsung A55.

I am currently using 349 plan (2GB/day for 28 days) and Rs3599 plan (365 days - 2.5GB/day) is in queue now. Both having UL 5G.

Further if anyone just want to have a secondary number just for bank OTPs and occasional data usage, Jio will NOT be a good choice, imho. Because voice only plan (with just 24GB data) is currently costliest in Jio @ around Rs2063 (Rs1899 for 336 days), even costlier than Airtel / VoId. Jio also removed bigger data top-up which used to give 50GB bulk data and now only data top-up option is 12GB @ Rs139 (around Rs11.6/GB). Whereas in Airtel Rs1999 gives 365 days + 24GB data and there is a data top-up plan of 50GB @ Rs361 (around Rs7.22/GB).

So it looks like moving from Postpaid to Prepaid is very easy in Jio.
Meanwhile when you go to Airtel store, they straight up deny to convert you to Prepaid. My friend converted his Airtel sim to postpaid during his visit to Kashmir. Now he is struggling since months to convert it back. He visited multiple Airtel stores and contacted customer support as well. He's saying he'll file a police complaint now.
Same happened with me when I tried to convert my Vi (then Vodafone) sim from Postpaid to Prepaid. They straight up deny. I had to port to Airtel prepaid and then port back to Vodafone prepaid.

Yes, moving back and forth between postpaid and prepaid is super easy in Jio. No need for SIM change. No pressure from Jio store people, mainly because it is Jio, paying them salary. But in case of Airtel / VoId, the store people gets better incentives in postpaid connection and the store owner is paying salary, not the telcos. So Airtel / VoId store people easily allow you to switch from prepaid to postpaid (sometimes, even without sim swap), but NOT vice-versa.

The once great advantage of Postpaid number (usable in JK & NE circles during roaming) is now nullified in case of Jio. Just convert to Jio Postpaid before JK / NE visit, come back and revert back to Prepaid, in your convenience.

I have already tried taking Corporate connections in Jio, but the Jio sales-people are least interested (recently TRAI has increased restrictions) and they can't promise the resistance to tariff hikes.

So, like I said earlier, NOW there is Literally zero advantage in using Postpaid connection, unless someone else (or company) is paying you, imho.

Yeah. With the ongoing Unlimited 5G offer, going for Postpaid is redundant.
