Vi (Vodafone Idea) has recently expanded the availability of its VoWiFi calling service to select Apple handsets allowing more Vi customers to access the service on their handsets. The company’s website notes that Vi Wi-Fi Calling service now supports all iPhones (6s or above) among other compatible handsets.
iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE (1st generation), iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max are the iPhone handsets above 6s.
The Wi-Fi calling for the time being continues to be limited to select circles namely Maharashtra & Goa, Kolkata, Gujarat, Delhi, and Mumbai. Vi’s prepaid and postpaid customers in the above mentioned telecom circles can avail the service free of cost.
Vi Wi-Fi calling currently also supports a range of handsets from Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi, and Samsung. The company earlier this month extended support to select Realme handsets apart from ramping up the compatible handsets for other brands.
In March, select Samsung and Oppo handsets had started supported Vi’s Wi-Fi calling. It remains to be seen as to when Vi expands the availability of the service on a pan-India basis.
