The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is working on having testing laboratories within the country for testing and certification of telecom devices in India itself. TEC is in the process of setting up the CPE & TL lab at TEC, New Delhi.
The proposed lab is in line with the National Digital Communication Policy 2018 that provides for creating a framework for testing of new products and services and enhancing institutional capacity to perform testing including establishing domestic testing hubs and laboratories with state of art testing facilities.
TEC recently invited budgetary quotes for test instruments for setting up CPE & TL Lab in TEC, New Delhi
The scope of the proposed lab includes helping telecom manufacturers and academic institutions in R&D along with Auditing, Surveillance, Standards Development, and Capacity Building.
The proposed lab will have testing infrastructure for conformance and inter-operability testing of NGN CPEs and Terminals. The Lab will be equipped with state of the art test instruments and will have test set ups for testing Interface Requirements of various NGN CPEs and Terminals.
