The all new SonyLIV 2.0 has come with a missive price hike with the annual plan now costing Rs 999, up from the earlier Rs 499 seeing a 100% hike in its annual pack pricing. The monthly and semi annual subscription packs have also seen quite a hike with the monthly plan now starting at Rs 299. The new pricing went on SonyLIV subscription page sometime after 1 AM earlier today.

SonyLIV’s monthly pack which was earlier priced at Rs 99 is now priced at Rs 299, up by Rs 200 or 202%. SonyLIV’s semi-annual or 6 month pack which earlier cost Rs 299 is now priced at Rs 699, up by Rs 400 or 133.77%. SonyLIV’s yearly plan or 12 months pack which earlier cost Rs 499 is now priced at Rs 999, up by Rs 500 or 100.2%.

LIV Premium in SonyLIV 2.0 will provide exclusive world premiere and original shows, latest international shows, LIVE sports, and all LIVE TV channels. The packs are currently not providing any discount coupons either.

The annual pricing of LIV premium is now on par with Amazon Prime subscription cost. However, SonyLIV is highly unlikely to provide the level of user experience other OTT platforms provide. The slider on LIV 2.0 website is hard to slide, the app still packed with multiple bugs, and the playstore roll out yet not seemingly finished.

The episode 1 of the three SonyLIV Originals that have launched today are also reported to be missing at this point of time. The sub-par launch with the 2.0 pricing and the claim of a better overall experience which isn’t synced with the reality leaves a big room for improvement in LIV 2.0.
