Sony Xperia 8 Lite launched with Snapdragon 630 SoC and dual rear cameras in Japan

Sony has launched a new mid-range smartphone Xperia 8 Lite in its home country of Japan. This handset’s body design and major specs except rear cameras are the same as the Sony Xperia 10 which was launched in February 2019.

The Sony Xperia 8 Lite has a 6-inch full-HD+ LCD Triluminous display with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels and 21:9 aspect ratio. The front and back panels are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and it’s rated IPX5/8 for water resistance.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 630 processor (Octa-Core 2.2GHz+1.8GHz) paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 512GB via a microSD card. 

On the back, it features a 12-megapixel shooter with f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel shooter with an f/2.4 aperture supporting AI scene detection and 2x optical zoom. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture on the front. 

The fingerprint sensor is side-mounted. It runs on dated Android 9 Pie OS and fueled by 2,870mAh battery. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, NFC, and 3.5mm audio jack.

Pricing and Availability

Sony Xperia 8 Lite is priced at JPY 29,800 (about Rs. 20,800) in Japan for the 4GB + 64GB storage option. It will be available in White and Black glossy finishes and already up for pre-orders while it’s sale is slated to start from September 1.
