South Korean tech company Samsung has extended the standard warranty on all products till June 15, 2020. Samsung product consumers in India whose warranty expired between March 20, 2020, and May 31, 2020, will be able to avail warranty till June 15. A valid proof of purchase is required to claim the warranty.
Since the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown imposed by the government of India, many Samsung physical stores and service centers were closed. Due to this, Samsung product owners were unable to visit physical stores or service centers for claiming their warranty. Samsung’s decision to extend the warranty will surely help users to avail of the warranty in the case of a repair. However, Samsung service centers located in the contaminated zones will remain closed.
“Keeping in mind the current situation, we have extended the standard warranty across our product portfolio till June 15, 2020. This will be valid for all products whose warranty expired in the period between March 20 and May 31, 2020,” the company announced on Tuesday on the Samsung India website.
In April also, Samsung had extended the standard warranty on all products. At that time, the standard warranty was extended until May 31, 2020. It was valid for Samsung customers in India whose warranty expired between March 20, 2020, and April 30, 2020.
