Samsung Galaxy S24 series

South Korean tech giant Samsung has launched its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, in India. The series consists of three models: the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The Galaxy S24 series runs on the Android 14 operating system out of the box with One UI 6.1 customization on top. The company promises to deliver seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of software security updates.

Moreover, the Galaxy S24 series also offers several new AI features, such as Live Translate, which allows two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls; Interpreter, which displays live conversations in a split-screen view for easy reading; Chat Assist, which helps users write messages in different tones and languages; Note Assist, which generates summaries, templates, and covers for notes; Transcript Assist, which transcribes audio recordings; and more.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra specifications

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra features a 6.8-inch quad-HD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) Infinity-O-Edge Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with up to 120Hz variable refresh rate, up to 2600 nits of brightness, and Gorilla Armor protection. The phone is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy (4nm) chipset paired with Adreno 740 GPU, 12GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of onboard storage.

For optics, the Galaxy S24 sports quad rear camera setup of a 200-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 12-megapixel 120-degree ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom, and a 50-megapixel periscope lens with f/3.4 aperture and 5x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, it has a 12-megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. The phone packs a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging technology.

Connectivity options include tri-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e/7, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, proximity, magnetometer, barometer, and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 162.3mm x 79mm × 8.6mm and weighs 232 grams.

Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S24 features a 6.2-inch full-HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) display, and the Galaxy S24+ comes with a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) display. Both models feature Infinity-O Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to 2600 nits brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.

In select regions, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform for Galaxy paired with Adreno 750 GPU, while the Indian variants of smartphones include Exynos 2400 SoC with Xclipse 940 GPU. The Galaxy S24 comes with 8GB of RAM, whereas the Galaxy S24+ has 12GB of RAM.

In terms of optics, both models sport a triple rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and OIS support, a 12-megapixel 120-degree ultrawide sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and 3x optical zoom. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has a 12-megapixel front-facing sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 packs a 4000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, while the Galaxy S24+ is equipped with a 4900mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging technology. Connectivity options include tri-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e/7, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light, proximity, magnetometer, barometer, and an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

The Galaxy S24 measures 147mm x 70.6mm x 7.6mm and weighs 167 grams, while the S24+ measures 158.5mm × 5.9mm × 7.7mm and weighs 196 grams.

Pricing and availability

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage variants cost Rs. 1,29,999, Rs. 1,39,999, and Rs. 1,59,999, respectively. The phone comes in Titanium Blue, Titanium Green, and Titanium Orange color options.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 is priced at Rs. 79,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while the 8GB RAM and 512GB storage model costs Rs. 89,999. The phone comes in Amber Yellow, Cobalt Violet, and Onyx Black color options.

The Samsung Galaxy S24+ 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 99,999, and the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage model costs Rs. 1,09,999. It comes in Cobalt Violet and Onyx Black color options.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will also be available in Titanium Blue, Titanium Green, and Titanium Orange color options via Samsung e-store, while the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ will be available in Jade Green and Sapphire Blue color options via Samsung online store.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is available for pre-order until January 20. Customers who pre-booked the phone during the Samsung Live event that started today at noon will get a Samsung Wireless Charger Duo worth Rs. 4,999. Further, the Galaxy S24 series will also be available to order via Amazon website, Flipkart, and leading retail stores in India from January 31, 2024.

The launch offer includes an upgrade bonus of Rs. 15,000 for Galaxy S24 and Rs. 12,000 for Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra. Users can also get Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra 512 GB storage variants for the price of a 256GB storage model. Bank offers include Rs. 5,000 HDFC Bank cashback that is applicable with a Rs. 5000 upgrade bonus for Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra and Rs. 8000 upgrade bonus for Galaxy S24. Further, there are also 11-month no-cost EMI options available.

Samsung is expected to host its next Unpacked on January 17, where the Galaxy S24 series will be introduced. The event is taking place in the United States, and now one leakster claims to reveal the pre-order and sales timeline.

According to Tarun Vats, pre-orders will begin right after the event, with shipments expected to arrive between January 26 and 30, followed by a full market launch after that.
