Google is always innovating to make search easier and smarter for its users. The search giant has recently launched two new features that leverage artificial intelligence to enhance the search experience on Android phones. The Circle to Search feature lets users search for anything on their phone without switching apps, and the improved Multisearch feature allows users to search with text and images simultaneously and get AI-generated insights.

Circle to Search

Google has introduced a new Circle to Search feature that allows users to search for anything on their Android phone without switching apps. Users can long-press the home button or the navigation bar on their Android phone to enable the Circle to Search feature. Then, they can use their preferred gesture, such as circling, highlighting, scribbling, or tapping, to select the items on the screen and quickly get relevant information.

AI-powered Multisearch

Multisearch allows users to search with text and images at the same time. Now, the company has upgraded the feature with generative AI capabilities. When using the camera or uploading a photo or screenshot to ask a question using the Google App, Multisearch will show relevant results with AI-powered insights. Users can also ask more complex queries and get information with a better understanding.

Availability

The Circle to Search feature will be available on select premium Android smartphones, including the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series, from January 31, 2024.

The AI-powered Multisearch feature will roll out this week in English in the US for everyone. Users outside the US who have opted into the Search Generative Experience (SGE) can preview this feature in the Google app. Further, users can also access AI-powered overviews on Multisearch results within the Circle to Search feature.
