Chinese smartphone maker Oppo, on Friday, launched the Oppo A59 5G smartphone in India. The phone features a 6.56-inch HD+ display, MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC, a 5000mAh battery with 33W SuperVOOC charging support, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. The phone runs on the Android 13 operating system out of the box with ColorOS 13.1 customization on top.

The Oppo A59 5G features a 6.56-inch HD+ (720 x 1612 pixels) IPS display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6020 (7nm) chipset paired with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, up to 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage. It also supports a microSD card for expandable storage.
In terms of optics, the Oppo A59 5G sports a dual-rear camera setup of a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has an 8-megapixel front-facing sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens. The phone packs a non-removable 5000mAh battery that supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging technology.
Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, proximity, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Pricing and availability
The Oppo A59 5G is priced at Rs 14,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. It will also be available in the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The phone comes in Silk Gold and Starry Black color options and will be available via Flipkart, Amazon, OPPO store, and other retail stores in India starting December 25, 2023. Launch offers include cashback of up to Rs 1,500 on select bank cards and no-cost EMI for up to six months.
