MediaTek has officially launched its new Dimensity 900 5G chipset which is based on a 6nm architecture like the Dimensity 1100 and Dimensity 1200. It’s an octa-core chip with ARM Mali-G68 GPU for handling graphically intensive tasks.
The Dimensity 900 5G has two A78 high-performance cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six A55 efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It supports LPDDR4x, LPDDR5 type RAM and UFS 2.1, UFS 3.1 storage. The new AI processing unit integrated in this chip is said to be extremely power efficient and can support a wide variety of AI applications and 4K HDR.
This chip can handle either a 108MP sensor or 20MP + 20MP camera configuration and supports 4K HDR video recording. MiraVision HDR Video technology helps in adjusting a wide range of video stream factors such as colour, brightness, contrast, sharpness, and dynamic range for better quality videos. Display, on the other hand, can be full HD+ with up to 120Hz refresh rate.
In terms of connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, dual sim 5G having a peak download speed of 2.77Gbps. It is also integrated with a 5G New Radio (NR) sub 6GHz modem with carrier aggregation and support bandwidth up to 120MHz and Voice over New Radio (VoNR) is there for voice calling services using the 5G network.
