Lava, on Thursday, launched the Lava Storm 5G smartphone in India. The phone features a 6.78-inch full-HD+ display, MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC, a 5000mAh battery with 33W charging support, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication. Lava Storm 5G runs on the Android 13 operating system out of the box. The company promises to provide the Android 14 upgrade as well as two years of security updates.

Lava Storm 5G specifications
The Lava Storm 5G features a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (2460 × 1080 pixels) punch-hole IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by an octa Core MediaTek Dimensity 6080 (6nm) chipset paired with Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It also supports a microSD card of up to 1TB via a dedicated slot for expandable storage.
In terms of optics, the Lava Storm 5G sports a dual rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. For taking selfies and making video calls, the phone has a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging technology.
Connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, dual 4G VoLTE, 5G SA/NSA (n1/ n3/ n5/ n8/ n28/ n41/ n77/ n78), GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, proximity, magnetometer, ambient light, gyroscope, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 168.7mm × 76.7mm × 8.96mm and weighs 214 grams.
Pricing and availability
The Lava Storm 5G is priced at Rs. 14,999 for the sole 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. However, the phone will be available at an introductory price of Rs. 13,499. Customers can also avail Rs. 1500 on bank offer discounts, which are valid on limited stocks only. Lava Storm 5G comes in Gale Green and Thunder Black color options and will be available via Lava e-store and Amazon in India starting December 28, 2023.
