The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) technology arm C-DOT is now offering two WANI compliant Wi-Fi access boxes. C-DOT has readied WAYU for indoor use and WAP for outdoor use under PM-WANI.
WAYU is a portable and cost-effective WANI compliant Wi-Fi Acess Point consuming very less power as per C-DOT. The device meant for internal use can be powered even using common mobile chargers or even a power bank making it possible for retailing of data in even areas that currently don’t have continuous power available.
The compact device requiring very less space supports plug and play with easy installation and maintenance free operation. C-DOT is responsible for providing WANI compliant software to its manufacturing partners.
WAP is a cost effective, high throughput and exceptionally reliable modular and effective wireless solution for outdoor cases such as public Wi-Fi hotspots.
“The Access Point complies to IEEE 802.11ac standard and is backward compatible to IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n standards. The AP supports concurrent operation in dual band 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz. It supports 2×2 MIMO and 20,40 & 80 MHz channel bandwidths,” reads C-DOT’s description of WAP.
