DoT clarifies removal of NOCC charges only applicable for telecom licensees and not for others
Removal of NOCC charges won’t be applicable for teleport and broadcasting operators.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) recently issued a clarification that the removal of NOCC charges is applicable only for telecom licensees providing satellite broadcasting services. DoT had last month notified the removal of NOCC charges for telecom service licensees using space segment.
The Department received several references to clarify whether the order was also applicable to teleport and broadcasting operators. In this regard, DoT clarified that the removal of NOCC charge based on TRAI recommendation wasn’t applicable to anyone apart from telecom licensees providing satellite-based communication services.
The Department’s move last month meant the use of space segment by all DoT licensees including commercial/captive VSAT services, GMPCS, NLD, and other telecom licensees having unified license/standalone licenses no longer attracted NOCC charges.
