Ordered a new connection. Tomorrow installation. Dealer said only 999 or above plan is available for set top box. I disagreed. He doesn't have any info about Netflix/new stb. Eagerly waiting.
First of all if you ordered for the new connection, there are 2 options to take the connections. What connection have you ordered? One without STB and other with STB? Secondly, if you opt for the connection with STB, you will get 30 days trial plan by which you get 10 premium OTT apps excluding Amazon Prime and Netflix. And only after these 30 days, you have to select the plan as per your need.

Whether free contents of Hotstar and Voot accessible through Jio Box after opting ₹399 plan?
And what about Jio TV + app it has some FTA channels right? Is it accessible after opting 399 plan?

Existing customers having 99 plan can answer this properly.

Yes, even for the 399 and 699 plans, any FREE content available for the general public (read non Jio Fiber users), should be available for all the apps present in the Jio STB. So I would say yes, you should be able to access them if you have access to the Jio STB.

As far as free channels go, there are very few FTA channels that are available in the Jio STB. Zee5 has a few, Sun Nxt has one or two per language, and there might (not so sure though) be a few under the Jio TV+ app. So again, I would say yes, you might have access to these limited number of FTA channels. Because Jio is not a traditional DTH Operator, I don't think they have an obligation to TRAI to add all FTA channels (even DD). So, even in the future, there is no given that you might have all the FTA channels made available by Jio.

Anyhow, you can opt for the STB, pay Rs.2500 (will be refunded ONLY if you return the STB & Modem within 30 days), subscribe to the 399 plan after the Trial Period, and then proceed to watch any FREE content avalable to you post subscription.

so- we will make sure after only 30 days free trial free- that any fta or pay channels are available or not under 399 / 699 plan. So jio himself will not clear and no official statement about this. Is it not a little unprofessional !!

You can wait until any existing Jio STB user, who opts for the new 399 or 699 plans, reports on the availability of FREE content in their STB. That could be a short, or long wait, depending on:

1) Existing user should have a recharge coming up.

2) They should opt for the 399 or 699 plan.

3) They should be a OnlyTech user.

4) They should be willing to actually spend time to post here about all the free content they are getting on their STB.

Jio Fiber isn't a DTH operator, they have clearly mentioned that OTT subscription will be given from the Gold plan. So if you want to watch TV channels, you need to opt for the said plans. Else enjoy it as a broadband provider with Bronze and Silver plan, having no OTT access. I'm sure, still you will get many News channels or many others with these plans. But frankly, 399/699 plans are not suitable for Tv viewing. You need to opt for the Gold plan atleast.
Earlier they were providing some Jio contents under Bronze plan but that's not the case anymore with these new plans.
With their Gold plan, which costs you under ₹1200/month, they are providing almost most of the Tv channels in high quality, good internet speed with almost unlimited data, almost all premium OTT subscription, landline connection, and many other features, what else you want now? I'm sure if you count all your cable/DTH, broadband, landline, OTT subscriptions (if any) expenses, these will cost you much more than ₹1200/month.
They have consolidated each and everything for you with just this much amount, still you are saying they should provide TV channels into 399/699 plans. Don't forget you are getting good internet and a landline connection under these plans.

one thing u get ir right. that bro, if anybody wants to opt for 2500 deposit- 30 days trial , he will get data with 4k stb. And after 30 days if he does not return & opt fr 399/ 699 plan- then no body knows what will happen? he may get some fta channels or may not. If he gets fta or pay channels then he is lucky- if he does not get any channels - then he has to use only data. He can not claim for any channels to JIO. Then 4k stb becomes a dabba.

They have given you a high end product, whether you want to use it to the fullest or not, choice is all yours.

I'm still not understanding if we can install Jio TV which is their own app, on the STB and watch all Live TV channels without any cost?
