There is not much Confidential about the same as many articles predicted 16000 Cr Windfall for BCCI as per Analyst Statements, it is about how to make profit after paying that amount and leverage from Various stream. So Sony took the risk and benefited from rights of unknown Commodity in 2008, which made them profit. Star took less risk but was best placed to benefit from all Stream Combined.....

How Sony didn't considered to get global rights. If they were ready to give 11000 crore for Indian rights 16000 crore won't be a big deal for them for global rights.

Maybe star will do something like live feed for premium customers & 5 min late feed for regular one on hotstar.

Star will launch more sports channels for sure . most probably star sports 1 Kannada & star sports 1 Telugu

Even they'll consider to provide 15 to 20 min late feed for star sports first.

But what about global rights . Will star launch global channels or fox sports will show them.

Sky UK backed out mostly likely because they were told to back off by 21st Century Fox because Star was going to bid globally
I think wherever 21st Century Fox is present which is pretty much everywhere except the greenlands Fox will and others might be resell to other broadcasters

I think something is fishy about bcci and star group....i think star was already knowing abt showing ipl in 3 different languages thats why they have already launch channel starsport 1(english), star sport hindi1, and star tamil. Only 3 language why they didnt launch star gujrati kanada or telgu or odiya or bengal etc.... 2language can be understood but on what basis bcci made it mandatory to telecast in 3 lang does india have only 3 language bcci didnt wanted any other then star on board.

this reason is unacceptable..
BCCI has only asked to broadcast the matches atleast in 3 different languages and not in 3 different channels..
that can be easily fulfilled by adding Multi-Audio in a Single Channel.

Sony's India TV bid is more than 11000 crore where as star bid is only 6200 crore. So even Sony think that it's totally worth the price to pay 11000 crore just for 5 years, so in that sense Star hits the Jackpot as by paying extra 5000 crore only they gets all rights globally.

Just like what they did with Bundesliga rights and screwed up NEO SPORTS
SONY isn't present in many countries like Fox. So Star still get these rights at an average cost
