Saeed Ajmal set to be included in Pakistan's squad for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Reports

Saeed Ajmal, Pakistan's ace off-
spinner, is set to be included in the
15-man squad for the ICC Cricket
World Cup 2015. As per reports by
Geo News, if Ajmal's action isn't
cleared then, International Cricket
Council (ICC) will allow Pakistan to
name a replacement for the veteran
off-spinner.

Earlier, Ajmal was suspended from
international cricket in September
after tests on his bowling action in
Brisbane found that the 36-year-old
spinner straightened his arm by more
than 15 degrees. Since then, Ajmal
has been working hard to rectify his
action.

Recently, Ajmal played a few One-
Day games against Kenya and also
took a six-wicket haul in Pakistan 'A's
crushing win by a margin of 116 runs in the fourth game of that series.

Both Ajmal and his teammate,
Mohammad Hafeez, will arrive in
India at the end of this month to
undergo unofficial tests on their
bowling actions.

Shaharyar Khan: Umar Gul may not be picked for ICC Cricket World Cup, 2015

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)
chairman, Shaharyar Khan, has
indicated that ace pacer, Umar Gul,
may not be considered for selection
for the ICC Cricket World Cup, 2015.
Gul is recovering from a knee injury
for which he underwent operation
last month, but is yet to regain full
fitness.

"The reports about Gul are not very
encouraging and there are very slim
chances that he will be considered
for the final World Cup squad," Khan
told PTI.

Gul, who had surgery in May for the
knee problem, suffered a recurrence
after he was recalled for the limited
overs series against Sri Lanka. He
suffered a relapse again during the
series against New Zealand, last
month.

"Gul had also been playing in
domestic cricket this season and had
bowled number of overs but for
some reason as soon as he was
inducted for international cricket, he
faced fitness problems," said Khan.

Gul, who has appeared in 47 Tests
and 125 ODIs for Pakistan, is
Pakistan's most experienced fast
bowler currently. Meanwhile, Khan
also mentioned that reports on
Junaid Khan's recovery were very
encouraging and he apparently has
regained 90 per cent fitness after
injuring his knee during the one-day
series against Australia, in October.

Naved Akram replaces Moin Khan as Pakistan manager for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on
Saturday, appointed Naved Akram
Cheema, as Pakistan Team Manager,
for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
Cheema, who replaces former
Pakistan captain, Moin Khan, has
been selected in keeping with the
board's policy of doing away with
dual roles for administrators.
Last month, PCB Chairman,
Shaharyar Khan, had made it clear
that Moin Khan, who is also chief
selector, would hold on to his dual
portfolios, at least until the end of
the World Cup. Shaharyar had,
however, hinted that the board was
considering Akram Cheema for the
Team Manager role and had been
waiting for the Punjab government to
release him from his position as
Chief Secretary of the province.

According to sources, Cheema is
likely to retire as Punjab Chief
Secretary by the end of the year,
thereby availing the opportunity to
manage the national side.
