Bangladesh include Soumya Sarkar in World Cup squad

Bangladesh have named their 15-
man squad for ICC Cricket World
Cup, 2015. Fast bowler Mashrafe
Mortaza has been named as the
skipper with Shakib Al Hasan named
his deputy. The squad also includes
all-rounder Soumya Sarkar who has
played just one ODI previously.

Sarkar has been in good form in
domestic cricket recently which
strengthened his case.

The World Cup will be played in
Australia and New Zealand where the
pitches generally favour pace bowlers
more than spin. Bangladesh have
four fast bowlers in the squad -
Mortaza, Rubel Hossain, Taskin
Ahmed and Al-Amin Hossain.
Abdur Razzak, the experienced left-
arm spinner was omitted and is
currently nursing a hamstring injury.

Bangladesh are placed in Group A in
the tournament along with Australia,
Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Scotland, New
Zealand and England. They play their
first match against Afghanistan on
February 18 but will also be playing
two warm-up games before that.

William Porterfield to lead Ireland for the third time in World Cups

Ireland have named their squad for
ICC Cricket World Cup, 2015. William
Porterfield will lead the side which
will be coached by Phil Simmons.

The
15-man squad picked for the World
Cup is the same that will be a part of
a training camp in Dubai. They will
also play a tri-series, also featuring
Afghanistan and Scotland ahead of
the main event.

"It's fantastic to be leading Ireland in
another global tournament," said
Porterfield. "We've produced some
wonderful performances over the
years in World Cups, and there's no
reason why we can't claim further
successes in Australia and New
Zealand. There's a great mix as
always in the squad, and the younger
guys coming through are all hungry
which keeps the more experienced
players on their toes. Competition
for places has been fierce and that's
got to be good for Irish cricket," he
added.

Coach Simmons added that Ireland
will be helped by a few more players
even tough they are not a part of the
squad, which contains 6 players who
will feature in their first World Cup.

"Max Sorensen, Graeme McCarter,
Eddie Richardson, Tyrone Kane and
Barry McCarthy will all bowl in the
nets and will provide a great resource
in our build-up. It's our intention to
have some additional players based
in Australia to provide cover for the
World Cup squad, and we'll finalise
those arrangements in the coming
weeks," said Simmons.

Ireland are placed in Grloup B along
with India, Pakistan, South Africa,
Zimbabwe, West Indies and UAE.
They will also play a couple of warm-
up matches in Sydney before the
main event.
