DRS to be used in Cricket World Cup 2015.

the International Cricket Council (ICC)
has confirmed that Decision Review
System (DRS) will be used during the
Cricket World Cup 2015. The DRS was
first used in an ICC event during the
2011 World Cup. The Decision Review
System will be used in all 49 matches
of the tournament
The system was officially launched
for the first time when New Zealand
played Pakistan in their own den in a
Test series in 2009. It came into force
in ODIs in 2011. Since DRS has come
into force, there have been
amendments made especially, with
regard to LBW protocols.

Some of the other key elements of
the playing conditions, based on the
Standard ODI Match Playing
Conditions for the World Cup are:

1) There will be reserve days in the
knock-out phase only.

2) There will be no super over in tied
matches in the knock-out phase. In
case of a tied quarter-final and semi-
final, the side finishing in the higher
position in the group stage will
progress. If the final is tied or if the
match is a no-result, then the teams
will be declared joint winners.

Saeed Ajmal included in Pakistan's provisional World Cup squad.

Karachi: Suspended offspinner Saeed
Ajmal has been included in Pakistan's
provisional World Cup squad of 30
players but it is subject to him
clearing the informal biomechanics
test in the United Kingdom.

Ajmal who is already in the UK is
scheduled to undergo the informal
test on Monday with former Pakistan
spinner Saqlain Mushtaq
accompanying him. Ajmal on Monday
also reiterated his confidence that his
corrected bowling action would be
cleared in the tests as he was now
straightening his arm within the 15
degrees allowed by the ICC.

"I have worked very hard on
removing chinks in my action and
once this stage is cleared I am sure I
will resume playing international
cricket again soon," he said.

But the national selection committee
headed by Moin Khan apparently is
not so confident as while sending a
provisional list to the Pakistan Cricket
Board (PCB) for submission to the
ICC, it has included Ajmal's name
subject to his clearing the informal
test.

"If he doesn't clear the test then he
will not be part of the provisional
squad," one PCB official told PTI.
Ajmal's bowling action was initially
reported by the match officials during
the first Test against Sri Lanka at
Galle in August.

Later he failed a biomechanics test
ordered by the ICC and was
suspended from international cricket.

For the last two months he has been
working on correcting his bowling
action the help of Saqlain and other
experts.

A reliable source said the selectors
had however included the names of
discarded senior players Shoaib Malik
and Kamran Akmal in the provisional
squad without any pre-conditions.

Not surprisingly the selectors have
also included senior batsman,Younis
Khan in the provisional squad which
has to be sent to the ICC by
December 7.

"Younis is back in the one-day squad
although Pakistan's next one-day
international now is not before
November 8 when they play New
Zealand in the UAE," the source said.

The selectors had dropped Younis for
the one-day series against Australia
leading to a lot of hue and cry and
the senior batsman has played just a
single ODI since March, 2013.

But in the ongoing series against
Australia and New Zealand, Younis
has broken records with four
centuries in three Tests.

The source said that the selectors
had also asked the board to hold a
fitness test for seasoned pacer,Umar
Gul before the December 7 deadline.

ICC raises prize pool for World Cup

The winner of next year’s ICC Cricket World Cup will pocket at least $US3.975 million ($AU4.3 million) in prize money, after the International Cricket Council announced a 20 per cent increase in the total prize pool for the tournament.

The reward for the winners will rise to $US4 million if the team remains unbeaten through the entire tournament.

"A total of $US10 million, an increase of approximately 20 per cent over the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, will be available," the ICC said.

The 2011 edition jointly hosted by India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had prize money of $US8.01 million.

The team which loses the March 29 final at the MCG in Melbourne will pocket $1.75 million while the two losing semi-finalists will each get $600,000 each.

The four losing quarter-finalists will each receive $300,000 and the winners of each group match will be given $45,000 per match, the ICC said.

All six teams eliminated from the first stage will get $35,000 each.

The decision was made at a two-day ICC Board meeting in Dubai while playing conditions were also finalised for the 11th edition of the World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29.

The ICC announced the Decision Review System (DRS) would be used in all 49 matches and there would only be reserve days in the knock-out phase.

There will also be no super over in tied matches in the knock-out phase and in the case of a tied quarter-final or semi-final, the side finishing in the higher position in the group stage will progress.

If the final is tied or if the match is a no-result, the teams will be declared joint winners.

The ICC Board also approved cut-off dates for qualification to the 2017 Champions Trophy and the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

The top eight sides on the ICC one-day rankings on September 30 2015 will qualify for the 2017 Champions Trophy in England, while the cut-off date for the 10-team 2019 World Cup, also in England, is September 30 2017.

The top eight ranked sides on that date will automatically qualify for the World Cup, while the ninth and 10th ranked teams will play in the World Cup qualifying competition in Bangladesh in 2018.
