Amazon doesn't have to pay anything to producers to offer their movies for rent. Amazon only has to share the earnings. Probably 35% Amazon will take and rest will be given to producers. So there is no loss in this business. As long as the movies do not come automatically with the OTT subscription it will not be successful atleast at these prices. I wonder how much BMS has earned from their streaming service. It will be a useful gauge of how much Prime Video can make by renting the movies.
As you already know, to offer movies to members, Amazon will have to pay a huge amount for the streaming rights.
