The Cabinet last week extended the additional charge of BSNL CMD P K Purwar as the CMD, MTNL for another period of six months starting 15th April 2021 and ending on 14th October 2021. The extension has been approved after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet gave the nod for the extension of the additional charge. P K Purwar during the period of holding additional charge will not be entitled to any additional remuneration.
“In continuation of this Department’s order of even number dated 23.11.2020, it is conveyed that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension of the additional charge of the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) assigned to Sh. P. K. Purwar, CMD, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for a further period of six months w.e.f. 15.04.2021 to 14.10.2021 or until further orders, whichever is earlier. 2. During the period of holding additional charge, Sh. P. K. Purwar will not be entitled to any additional remuneration,” said DoT in a circular.
Purwar had in October 2020 got an extension till 14th January 2021 followed by further extension till 14th April 2021 in November 2020 by the Cabinet’s Appointment Committee. The prolonged extension notably comes ahead of the impending take over of MTNL wireless services in Mumbai and Delhi by BSNL starting 1st April 2021.
