Microsoft has officially released the Windows 11 23H2 update for the users in the stable channel. The update includes new features, enhancements, and bug fixes, including AI-powered Windows Copilot, RAR and 7-Zip file support, auto-saving on Notepad, and more. However, Microsoft released most of these features in September as a part of the Moments 4 update to devices running Windows 11 22H2. These recently released updates and some new enhancements are now available in Windows 11 23H2 update.
Windows 11 23H2 update
The Windows 11 23H2 update includes all the AI-powered features that were recently announced, including Windows Copilot, a background removal tool in Microsoft Paint, improvements to the Snipping tool, Windows Backup, and a modernized File Explorer.
In addition, starting Windows 11 version 23H2, Chat is now called Microsoft Teams Free and is pinned by default to the taskbar. “When you click to launch Microsoft Teams, you will discover a mini communications experience that makes it possible to chat, call, meet, and create a space for community groups to come together, organize, and share ideas in just a click or two. Its compact size makes it easy to place the window anywhere on the desktop, allowing you to passively keep tabs on your conversations as you browse the web or connect with your communities,” said Microsoft in a blog post.
Further, Windows 11 system components apps on the Start Menu will show a System label. Users open Settings > System > System Components to manage these apps.
How to get the Windows 11 23H2 update
Since Windows 11 version 23H2 is based on the same code base as Windows 11 version 22H2, this feature update will be installed using servicing technology. It will install just like a monthly cumulative update. However, Windows 11 devices running version 21H1 will require a full operating system swap to update to Windows 11, version 23H2.
Users on their compatible Windows 11 version 22H2 PCs can head over to the Settings app and click on the Windows Update. Then, under More Options, “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” is set to on, and then check for updates. Windows 11, version 23H2 update should appear and start downloading.
