Meta-owned Instant messaging app WhatsApp is rolling out three new features – channel alerts, search messages by date, and hidden navigation labels for Android users. According to a report by WaBetaInfo, these new features are currently available to WhatsApp beta users on Android and will be available to more users in the coming days.
The “channel alerts” feature aims to enhance the user experience for channel administrators by providing them with real-time insights about the suspension of their channels and the ability to restore the channel by requesting WhatsApp. The report also added that WhatsApp channel owners should access channel alerts from the channel info screen to monitor any violation.
Furthermore, WhatsApp is adding two new features: hidden navigation labels and search messages by date. The “hidden navigation feature” automatically hides the navigation labels and the top app bar when scrolling down, and the “search message by date” feature enables users to find messages from a specific date.
To use the “search message by date feature,” users need to tap the search icon on the top right corner of the chat or group and select the calendar button. Users can then choose the date they want to search for, and all the messages will appear from that date.
Currently, channel alerts, search messages by date, and hidden navigation labels are only accessible to some beta testers who have installed WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store. These features will be available to more users in the coming days.
