Vi (formerly Vodafone Idea) has recently passed on the hike on its entry-level postpaid plans to three more telecom circles including Chennai & Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, and Maharashtra & Goa. The price hike was initially rolled out in UP East by Vi back in November 2020 while other circles excluding Uttar Pradesh (East) were immune from the price hike.
As such Vi customers across telecom circles excluding the aforementioned four telecom circles will be offered the Vi Family plan whereas those in UP East, Chennai & TN, Kolkata, and Maharashtra & Goa will be offered the Vi Family – New plan, according to the terms and conditions document for the Vi Postpaid plans.
As part of the price hike, Vi’s ‘FAMILY S’ priced at Rs 598 earlier will be now available as ‘FAMILY 649‘ in these circles with a price hike of Rs 51. Vi’s ‘FAMILY M’ plan priced at Rs 749 will now be available as ‘FAMILY 799‘ in these circles with a price hike of Rs 50. The pricing of FAMILY 999 (erstwhile FAMILY XL) remains unchanged in these circles. ‘FAMILY XL‘ plan has been withdrawn from the offerings of Vi Family – News postpaid plans.
It remains to be as to when and if Vi will completely phase out its older version of Family postpaid plans across all telecom circles and switch completely towards Family – New postpaid plans.
