TRAI conducts drive tests in 12 cities and surrounding areas to assess network quality

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recently conducted drive tests in twelve cities and surrounding areas with the help of telecom service providers. The drive tests were conducted in the quarter ending March 2022.

The drive tests were carried out in Nellore, Salem, Visakhapatnam, Tumkur, Sangli, Rajkot, Udaipur, Kanpur, Indore, Dehradun, Meghalaya, & Gopalganj, apart from two highways, Indore-Bhopal & Dehradun-Meerut.

TRAI conducted the drive tests to assess the network quality provided by cellular mobile telephone service providers for voice and data services. The key performance indicators (KPIs) were evaluated for the networks of all telecom service providers operating in the region.

KPIs for voice services include COverage, Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Drop Call Rate, Block Call Rate, Handover Success Rate, and Rx Quality, whereas KPIs for data services include Download and Upload throughputs, Web Browsing Delay, Video Streaming Delay, and Latency.
