Samsung, on Tuesday, released the new beta version of its proprietary browser that is available for Android users. Samsung Internet 19.0 Beta update brings new features, privacy, and security enhancements, including improved anti-phishing and protection against online threats from trackers.
“Trackers are becoming increasingly sophisticated at avoiding detection and collecting personal information without the awareness or consent of the person being tracked,” says Janghyun Yoon, EVP and Head of S/W Platform at Mobile experience Business, Samsung Electronics.
“We want users to have the safest, smoothest browsing experience possible. That’s why we have improved Smart anti-tracking, to give users more control over their privacy so they can browse with peace of mind.”
Samsung Internet 19.0 Beta comes with enhanced AI-powered Smart anti-tracking functionality to detect and protect domains that collude with classified trackers. Further, the improved lookalike phishing detection feature warns users when they visit a fraudulent website using a similar URL.
Users can tap the Lock icon in the address bar to view the number of blocked trackers and cookies in use and instantly allow or block permissions for location, camera, and microphone for the website they visit. Samsung Internet 19.0 Beta also includes charts that view the number of ads blocked per day for a week.
Samsung Internet 19.0 Beta allows users to enable or disable the add-ons in Secret mode via the improved add-ons menu. Lastly, the Beta version brings the ability to sync users’ bookmarks between the PC version of Chrome browser and the Samsung Internet mobile browser by using the Samsung Internet’s Chrome extension.
Samsung Internet 19.0 Beta is available for download via the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store. After the Beta testing phase, the stable version of the Samsung Internet 19.0 browser will officially release in Q4 this year.
