Samsung, on Wednesday, launched the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 smartphones at its Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. Both devices feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and Samsung Knox security. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 run on the Android 13 operating system with OneUI 5.1.1 customization on top. Further, the devices come with an IPX8 rating for water and dust resistance.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 features a 6.7-inch FULL HD+ (2640 x 1080 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with a 22:9 aspect ratio and up to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It also has a 3.4-inch (720 x 748 pixels) Super AMOLED cover display with a 60Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
The phone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset paired with Adreno 740 GPU, 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage. In terms of optics, the phone sports a dual-rear camera setup of a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 12-megapixel sensor ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 aperture.
For taking selfies and video calls, the phone has a 10-megapixel sensor on the front. The phone packs a non-removal 3700mAh battery that supports 25w fast charging and 15W wireless charging technologies. As per Samsung, the phone can charge up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes with a wired 25W adapter.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, Bluetooth 5.3, 4G, 5G SA/NSA, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, ambient light, magnetometer, barometer, hall, and a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader. Lastly, the phone measures 85.1mm x 71.9mm x 15.1mm (folded), 165.1mm x 71.9mm x 6.9mm (unfolded), and weighs 187 grams.
Samsung Galaxy Fold5 specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Fold5 features a 7.6-inch QXGA+ (2176 x 1812 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display with a 21.6:18 aspect ratio and a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. Further, it has a 6.2-inch HD+ (2316 x 904) with a 23.1:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection.
The device is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset paired with Adreno 740 GPU, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 onboard storage. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is equipped with a triple rear camera setup of a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, a 12-megapixel 123-degree ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and f/2.4 aperture.
On the front, it has a 4-megapixel under-display sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The device packs a non-removable 4400mAh battery that supports 25W wired, 15W wireless, and .5W reverse wireless charging technologies.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6e, Bluetooth 5.3, 4G, 5G SA/NSA, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. Sensors include an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, ambient light, magnetometer, barometer, hall, and a side-mounted capacitive fingerprint reader. The phone measures 154.9mm x 67.1mm x 13.4mm (folded), 154.9mm x 129.9mm x 6.1mm (unfolded), and weighs 253 grams.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 is priced at USD 999.99 (around Rs. 82,010) for the 256GB model, and the 512GB version costs USD 1119.99 (around Rs. 91,855). The phone comes in Mint, Graphite, Cream, and Lavender color options. It will also be available in Gray, Blue, Green, and Yellow color options but exclusively on the Samsung.com website.
In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is priced at USD 1799.99 (around Rs. 1,47,650) for the 256GB version, USD 1919.99 (around Rs. 1,57,495) for the 512GB version, and USD 2159.99 (around Rs. 1,77,180) for 1TB model. The device comes in Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream color options, and Samsung.com’s exclusive color options include Gray and Blue.
Both devices are available for pre-order in select markets from today and will go on sale starting August 11, 2023.
