Realme has officially launched its first 9-series phone, the Realme 9i in India a few days after its initial unveiling in Vietnam. It is the successor to the Realme 8i which was introduced last year. Other models in this series are expected to debut in February globally.

The Realme 9i features a 6.6-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display with 2412 x 1080 pixels resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, 90.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio, 20:1:9 aspect ratio, 401 PPI pixel density and 480 nits brightness. The screen is protected by a Dragon Trail Pro glass.
It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC based on a 6nm process and clocked at 2.4GHz, along with Adreno 610 GPU and up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. Realme also said that this phone will get Dynamic RAM Expansion support through a software update to allow up to 5GB of additional virtual RAM.
There is a triple rear camera setup on the back consisting of a 50MP main sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP B&W lens. For selfies and video calling it sports a 16MP Sony IMX471 AI selfie camera. Storage can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card (dedicated slot).
The handset runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. It has dual stereo speakers and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The fingerprint sensor is side-mounted. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Pricing and Availability
The Realme 9i is priced in India at Rs. 13,999 for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant while the 6GB + 128GB configuration comes with a price tag of Rs. 15,999. It will come in Prism Black and Prism Blue colour options. The handset will go on sale in the country from January 25 via Flipkart, Realme India website, and authorized retail stores. There will also be an early sale on January 22nd at 12 PM only on Flipkart and Realme.com.
