Oppo A72 5G launched with MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC and 90Hz display

Smartphone maker Oppo has quietly launched the Oppo A72 5G smartphone in China. This is the first handset with the recently announced MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G SoC. In April this year, Oppo had revealed a 4G variant of this model that was having a Snapdragon 665 processor.

The Oppo A72 5G comes with a 6.5-inch full-HD+ IPS punch-hole display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. It has a screen to body ratio of 90.5 per cent, 20:9 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

It is powered by Dimensity 720 5G chipset paired with up to 8 GB of LPPDR4x RAM and 128 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded by up to 256 GB through a microSD card.

In terms of photography, you get a tiple-camera setup on the back with a 16-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and 2-megapixel depth sensor. For photography and video calling there is a 16-megapixel camera on the front inside the punch-hole on the top left corner.

This handset is fueled by a 4,040mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C port. The fingerprint reader is mounted on the side. It runs on Color OS 7.2 based on the latest Android 10. The connectivity options include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS, USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack.

The Oppo A72 5G is priced at CNY 1,899 (around Rs. 20,200) for the lone 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage variant. It is available in three colour options- Neon, Oxygen Violet, and Simple Black. The smartphone is up for pre-order on the official Oppo China website, however, details regarding pricing and availability in other markets are not available yet.
