Social media giant Meta has expanded its paid subscription program, Meta Verified, to India, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced it via a post on his Instagram Broadcast channel. He also said that the subscription program would be available in Brazil soon, and previously verified accounts will retain their verified status on both Instagram and Facebook. Meta Verified is already available in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand.
The Meta Verified subscription in India is available for Rs. 699 per month for iOS and Android users. For users purchasing the subscription via the web (Facebook web only), it costs Rs. 599 a month. However, in India, Meta Verified is currently available only on iOS and Android devices. Users interested in purchasing via the web can sign up to join the waitlist through the Facebook web to get information when web purchasing is available. Additionally, users need to subscribe to each app separately to get Meta Verified on both Instagram and Facebook.
After purchasing the Meta Verified subscription, users need to submit their profile for verification. Moreover, users must be at least 18 years old and provide a government-issued ID. The government-issued ID should match the profile name and photo of the user’s Instagram or Facebook account. Once the user is verified, they can not change their username or date of birth on their profile without going through the Meta Verified subscription and verification application process again.
Meta Verified users will receive a verified badge that ensures the authenticity of their account. Additionally, verified accounts will get proactive account protection that protects their profile from impersonation and also receive direct account support from a real person. Further, Meta Verified users will receive exclusive stickers on Stories and Reels across Facebook and Instagram and 100 Stars a month on Facebook.
