Tech giant Google has announced that it is making Google Workspace (earlier called Google Suite) free to everyone with a Google account and an enterprise profile to access Workspace features is no longer required. Google Workspace offers Google services such as Gmail, Docs, Chat, Drive, Calendar, etc., with deeper integrations between different apps and easy collaboration among team members.
“Collaboration doesn’t stop at the workplace — our products have been optimized for broad participation, sharing and helpfulness since the beginning. Our focus is on delivering consumers, workers, teachers and students alike an equitable approach to collaboration, while still providing flexibility that allows these different subsets of users to take their own approach to communication and collaboration,” said Javier Soltero, VP and GM, Google Workspace.
You can enable Google Chat in Gmail settings to get an integrated experience which includes features like smart suggestions in emails or documents, presentation of Google Docs, Sheets or Slides directly within Google Meet calls and the ability to @-mention other users to notify and add them to tasks. The company also said that ‘Rooms’ will soon renamed into Spaces with a streamlined and flexible user interface.
Apart from these free features, Google is also bringing some premium features such as smart booking services, professional video meetings, personalized email marketing, etc. with a paid subscription called ‘Google Workspace Individual’. This is priced at $9.99 (around Rs 730) per month and will be rolling out soon to six markets- United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Brazil, and Japan.
