The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has invited public comments on the draft guidelines for registration process of M2M Service Providers (M2MSP) & WPAN/WLAN connectivity provider for M2M services. DoT in this regard has prepared the draft guidelines with stakeholders requested to provider their comments by 1st July.
As part of the M2M guidelines, any telecom licensee wishing to provide M2M services to third parties would need to register as M2MSP. Authorized telecom licensee/M2MSP who may wish to provide connectivity for M2M services to third parties would also need to register as WPAN/WLAN connectivity providers.
Connectivity providers using LPWAN technologies operating in unlicensed spectrum shall be under licensing through a new authorization under UL namely UL (M2M). The details of UL (M2M) authorization will be separately issued by DoT. UL (M2M) licensees intending to provider M2M services or WPAN/WLAN connectivity for M2M services to third parties would also need to register as applicant.
DoT’s sub-division TEC last week initiated the process of adoption of TSDSI transposed OneM2M Release-3 standard into National Standards. TEC has in the next step in adoption process of OneM2M Release-3 standard requested all stakeholders to offer their comments on the TSDSI transposed document.
