The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) today approved the change of location and service area of S.P. Code for Tata Teleservices. The Telecom Department in a letter to Tata Teleservices conveyed the approval of the SP code at new location post the request from Tata Teleservices Limited end.

DoT has allowed change of SP Code for Tata Teleservices in Karnataka, UP East, UP West, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat LSA.

Tata Teleservices is also moving its Network Element in many of the LSAs. The NE installed in Khan Lateef Estates, Hyderabad is moving to Gyan Peeth, Hyderabad. The two NEs installed in Mathura Road, Delhi is moving to Connaught Place, Delhi. The NE installed in Andheri (East) and Surat is moving to Navi Mumbai. The NE installed in Chennai is moving to Hyderabad.

DoT mandates allocated SP codes to be utilized within a period of 6 months from the date of allocation. In case, the allocated SP codes are not utilized then the same are to be reported to DoT and surrendered. Similarly, if the network element to which the SP code was allocated has been decommissioned and its use is not planned in the next 6 months, the allocated SP code should be surrendered
