Ideally it should be done in 72 hours!

It's a very confusing/wrong thread title. It's updating/linking your aadhar to your PAN card/database. But everywhere (including this thread) they are saying to link PAN to Aadhar.
I have done it more than a year ago, but this wrong thread title forced me to triple check.

It's just like asking to link Bank account to Aadhar for gas subsidy (whereas the fact is linking Aadhar to Bank account).

We're adding our Aadhar details in PAN database (income tax site), not adding PAN details in UID/Aadhar database / site.
Hope it's clear now.
