In the wake of yatra calls given by various Hindu groups for Monday, the Haryana Government has ordered the suspension of all mobile internet services in Nuh district from 6 pm till the same time on July 22. At least six people died after communal clashes erupted during the same yatra last year.

The notification said that on earlier such occasions, it has been seen that "some unscrupulous elements resorted to unfair means using different mobile applications"

The Jharkhand government has decided to impose a blanket ban on internet services across the state to prevent unfair practices in the Jharkhand General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination (JGGLCCE).

The internet ban will be invoked at 8.00 am, before being lifted off at 1.30 pm after the examination. The examination will be held at various examination centres in 24 districts on September 21 and 22.

The court also ordered the Hemant Soren government to not suspend Internet services in any form for conducting any examination without its permission.

Eastern range IG Satyajit Nayak announced that internet services will remain suspended for another 48 hours in Bhadrak following a communal rift over a controversial social media post.

India saw the fewest number of mobile internet shutdowns in eight years in 2024, rounding out a period where the country became the most frequent deployer in the world of the measure, according to data from the Internet Shutdowns Tracker maintained by the Software Freedom Law Centre, India.
