Fiber is the new term introduced as most of the people use this term when Jio came up with cheapest broadband plans.
JioFiber Airtel Fiber, ACT Fiber Broadband, etc
Same way they keep using it in Fiber term in wireless broadband.

ROFL no Jio did not come up the term "fiber" . It was used by other telcos much earlier who used OFC/FTTH/FTTN to provide internet. ACT was providing internet using optic fiber since it's inception in <2010 and that's why they called their service "fiber". Nothing to do with Jio

Nowhere I mentioned Jio introduced term Fiber, I myself used Fiber way before Jio came into existence. Read properly brother I mentioned many non technical user know about term recently when JioFiber came into existence.
