349 plan makes no sense. With such speeds 100GB will be exhausted in few days. I'm sad to see everyone predicting a 500GB FUP which is pretty normal these days. Even BSNL FTTH gives 600GB FUP + Hotstar for 849. Anything below 750GB will not suffice in this day and age.Similar to Telecom and Jio Phone they will first disrupt the market.
Rs. 349 - 50Mbps upto 100 GB
Rs. 749 - 50Mbps upto 500 GB
Rs. 999 - 100Mbps upto 500 GB
Rs. 1599 - 100Mbps Unlimited
Unlimited Free Calls.
Complimentary subscription to Jio apps, Services and TV.
Free additional data as launch offer.
I doubt JIO giving TV only plans. Do understand that these fiber cables require an ONT to function and none of these is cheap to run and requires labor and it isn't like coaxial cable. Why would they bother launching cheap TV only plans when they made such heavy investments. This was always intended for the youth and professionals who require internet for work and entertainment.
I don't think they can afford to offer plans below 500 at this point. 500 for TV+Internet+Landline is cheap for most people. Those who don't need broadband and landline will not even bother with their services.
Another thing is DTH despite being a pretty old technology now and has been in existence for years yet we don't have weather proof signals. I live in a place where i get heavy rains and TS being the best in rains still was struggling. Whereas my LCO's ftth line has had 0 issues and my internet works all the time.
The biggest challenge however for Jio is service which they're not known for. Now many LCO's will try to cut their lines or do some other shenanigans and try to disrupt the services. Will Jio be able to service on time and make sure consumers don't suffer? That's to be seen after commerical launch. Dth and cable is definitely going to suffer in the coming years
