When operators say 4G-only, does that mean even 2G will not be there? This will be a huge step, I still think a far fetched dream for India. Yes, if Jio can achieve it, why not the other operators? But I doubt Vi and Airtel will shut off 2G as well as early as 2021.
Thoughts?
Yes, it could happen. Though not as early as in 2021 but in 2022 it can happen. If on 01.01.2021 IUC becomes zero then anything could happen. All the competition will be on 4G. There'll be no feasibility for 2G.

As evidenced by these articles and discussions...

Vodafone started moving its 3G customers to 4G for the time being. Will later move it's 2G userbase as well according to my prediction if they can really survive in future as they have severe cash crunch and promoters of both Vodafone PLC and idea are not willing to infuse any new capital in the joint venture and getting investors is highly difficult for huge amounts of AGR burden.
